Ellyn Stokes

Visual Artist

Just this and then I’ll quit posting stuff from Sesame Street! Anyone who knows me and my drawings knows how formative this was for me…I’d love to know who this artist is.

Update: Okay! Thanks to the internet I seem to have an answer. It’s Jeff Hale, who also directed the famous (and influential!) “Pinball Number Count”, as well as this personal favorite. I promise I am (probably) done now.

So it turns out the artist who made this animation (which I really love, although it comes from a later era of Sesame Street than my own) was named Karen Aqua, and she died last year. Here is a website with more of her work and information about the artist.

Maurice Sendak died on May 8…he’s someone I really look up to.

These are in an exhibit of contemporary Islamic calligraphy and illumination that’s at the Hagia Sophia right now.

…and new(ish) paper-cut!

New embroidery (finally)…

New embroidery (finally)…

I finally, finally made myself a new website today, using Weebly, which I had of course never heard of before I saw Andrea Love Cossentino’s website, which my true love Carly Goss posted to Facebook. What would I do without Carly? And Facebook?!
Anyway, the new site has links to this blog and to my new Etsy shop, as well, which I promise I will put some stuff up on as soon as I take pictures. I will also update the new site with new art just as fast as I can make it.

Oh and also: happy World Puppetry Day! This is Katie Feild a-puppeting, back when we were making “The Angel,” in 2009.
